We are now able to do white board work as a whole class where they can watch me write on the board and then mimic and try on their own. By being able to do it as a class they are also able to have there peers view and assist which helps the more advanced kids as well as the students still struggling. \r\n\r\nSince we have had the stamps and letter wheels many of my students have moved to age level and past with letter recognition, recall, and letter sounds. So many of my students are thriving because they are able to learn the letters while playing and being exposed to them in multiple areas. \r\n\r\nMy students were ecstatic when I passed out the white boards, erasers and markers for the first time. We had previously only had 6 white board sets so it was a small group activity and they were thrilled when we pulled them out for whole group. Once a week my kids ask to do white board games instead of centers and that has really helped them with their handwriting and their love for learning. \r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will be continuing to grow their knowledge of letters, both upper and lower case, as well as connecting sounds with the letters and in some cases the multiple sounds associated with the letters. I even have students that are working on their sight word reading and the letters wheels are helping them understand them better. \r\n\r\nThank you again so much for your contribution to my classroom and my students. They are thrilled with the new supplies in class and love learning with them.","fullyFundedDate":1768584317994,"projectUrl":"project/early-handwriting/9718331/","projectTitle":"Early Handwriting","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Austin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10090366_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754080688129","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10090366"},{"teacherId":8076345,"projectId":9787357,"letterContent":"Immediately, the students began using and appreciating the new materials. They were so eager to begin. These students are constantly pushing the boundaries of their own knowledge and experiences. They are inquisitive and thirst for more. \r\n\r\nAs we opened the materials, the students quickly chose the ones they wanted to use first. Each student has his/her own special interest. They were able to correlate some of the concepts developed in the new materials with concepts we have previously studied, and were able to skip the beginning levels and move on to the more challenging tasks. \r\n\r\nIt is imperative that I keep up with their thirst for knowledge and scientific exploration. I never have enough to satisfy their growing minds. Thanks to you, donors, I have new materials to offer the students new and challenging experiences to enhance their quest for more challenging learning activities.","fullyFundedDate":1760706858477,"projectUrl":"project/young-stem-innovators/9787357/","projectTitle":"Young STEM Innovators","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. D. My class absolutely loves being able to create music hands on and is constantly asking to go to our \"music studio\" for free play and free time. The classroom is louder but with the students laughter, conversation and music which is something that I love to hear. \r\n\r\nWhen the students saw the boxes, at first they were confused but then they were very excited when we opened the boxes and they saw all of the instruments. Our next study will be on music so we can dive deeper into this love and interest that they are showing and without this donation I do not think this level of excitement would have been met. \r\n\r\nThe next step in classroom lessons is going to be learning more about music. We teach creative Curriculum as one of our many pre-k curriculums and I am excited to have a variety of instruments to introduce to the class and to allow them to play in an educational setting.","fullyFundedDate":1755541589168,"projectUrl":"project/musical-preschoolers/9534534/","projectTitle":"Musical Preschoolers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Austin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10090366_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754080688129","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10090366"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_99008","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":825,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":89,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":89,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"25.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":27.7,"schoolId":99008,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Renew Laurel Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Renew Laurel Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/louisiana/orleans-parish-school-district/scitech-academy/99008"}
