We're using the specimen kits to launch a mini‐exploration station where students examine shells, insect models, and plant roots under magnifiers. Just last week, during our \"Mystery Object\" challenge, Maya carefully sketched the intricate patterns on a cicada wing and connected them to our life-cycle unit. Meanwhile, our new Epson printer with refillable ink has made it possible to print large-font worksheets on demand—no more scrambling for paper or worrying about costly cartridges—and keeps our lesson plans flowing smoothly.\r\n\r\nWhen the big box of Cheez-Its arrived, the room erupted in cheers! We used the crackers for a quick fractions lesson: students broke them into halves and quarters, then compared quantities to reinforce division concepts. Watching Javan, who rarely participates verbally, excitedly point to his fraction chart and anticipate the snack reward was a true highlight. Seeing their own work come to life on the printed pages gave every child a sense of pride and ownership.\r\n\r\nNext, we're extending these materials into a collaborative Science Showcase. Students will create classification posters using specimen photographs printed on cardstock and present their findings to visiting classes. We'll also analyze survey data—collected with our Cheez-It taste test—to build bar graphs and percentages.
