Students already had a routine and some resources available in our classroom to seek out a break as needed. Often, they would visit our calming corner as an outlet for feeling overwhelmed, unsure, frustrated, or just needing a quiet moment.\r\n\r\nSince receiving Turbo, the kids have found so much joy and comfortability in taking these breaks or giving him a \"sloth hug\". Some students who were resistant to being noticed by visiting the calming space are now eager to take a moment and reset their emotions before returning to our academic work. \r\n\r\nAnd being that he's adorable and part of our classroom culture already, it has opened opportunities to offer solutions to students that are still unsure. Bouncy or distracted behaviors are more easily redirected by me asking them to \"hold Turbo while I ...\" and they are able to get back on track. And usually with a smile!\r\n\r\nThank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity. It might not seem like much to others who are not in the trenches on a daily basis, but I can assure you it has made a world of difference to our small class community.","fullyFundedDate":1744895180037,"projectUrl":"project/sloth-hugs-for-sensory-support/9259917/","projectTitle":"Sloth Hugs for Sensory Support","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dellsperger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp374350_orig.jpg?crop=1013,1013,x1456,y1099&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1734390118487","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/374350"},{"teacherId":9643800,"projectId":8617918,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my classroom project. Because of your contributions, my students now have the resources they need to explore science and engineering in new, hands-on ways.\r\n\r\nMy students are using the new materials in a variety of projects, but a recent highlight has been our unit on simple machines. The new LEGO Education SPIKE Prime kits have been a game-changer. The students are not only learning about levers and pulleys but are also building and coding them to see how they work in real time. We recently had a \"robot challenge\" where students had to design a robot arm to lift a small object. It was amazing to see them troubleshoot and collaborate to figure out the best design.\r\n\r\nWhen I first showed the students the new kits, their eyes lit up. There was a buzz of excitement in the classroom that I hadn't heard before. One student, who is usually very quiet, immediately started sketching out ideas for a robot he wanted to build. The materials have truly sparked a new level of engagement and curiosity in all of my students.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, the students will be applying their newfound knowledge of simple machines to a larger project: designing and building a functional Rube Goldberg machine. They will need to incorporate multiple simple machines to complete a final task, like ringing a bell or raising a flag. This project will challenge them to think creatively, work together, and apply everything they've learned this year. Your support has made this kind of in-depth, hands-on learning possible, and I can't wait to see what they create.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my students and their future.","fullyFundedDate":1733431705372,"projectUrl":"project/sped-students-need-your-help/8617918/","projectTitle":"SPED Students Need your HELP!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Sims","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9643800"},{"teacherId":1881319,"projectId":8470433,"letterContent":"Thanks for your patience in awaiting our reply. It's been a chock-full first semester of learning in third grade!\r\n\r\nThe floor desks you helped provide have been a highly effective seating choice! First, all students were drawn to them and took turns sitting on the carpet to work. Over time, particular learners chose them daily. They allow movement while learning, as well as a distraction-free zone to better focus on their lessons.\r\n\r\nWe also deeply appreciate the cleaning cloths and Mrs. Meyers spray cleaner. There is never any student complaint about wiping our desks and tables, and visitors to our classroom comment how clean and fragrant it is! \r\n\r\nYour donations make a huge difference.
