Hi, y'all! Our school is a new campus that opened up a couple years ago to serve Black and brown families in Gentilly - a big working-class/middle-class neighborhood in New Orleans. The school's intention is to be a French Montessori school - so it emphasizes independent learning and exploration. I'm a big believer in fleshing out classrooms as much as possible so that kids can self-direct and be critical of what/how they're learning. And, unfortunately, this can be really resource intensive, especially in a city like New Orleans. I love having big libraries that can serve all children and interest them in reading. Black and brown children are frequently shafted in receiving abundant resources in order to ensure that they get rigorous and meaningful education. So, help me help them by buying books or donating money. We'd all be thankful (me especially) in being to provide more for my future kids.
