My second graders now have the opportunity to choose a learning space that helps them feel comfortable, focused, and ready to do their best work. We use our wobble stools, donut seats, floor seating, and other flexible seating options throughout the day during independent work, small groups, partner reading, and collaborative activities. One of my favorite things to see is my students finding the spot that works best for them and settling in with a book or assignment. These resources have helped make our classroom feel like a welcoming space that truly belongs to them.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw all of their new seating choices, they were SO excited! They could not wait to try everything out, and it was so sweet watching them explore each option and decide on their favorites. Since then, we have worked together to learn how to use our flexible seating responsibly and how to choose a seat that helps us learn—not just the one that looks the most fun! As we continue through the school year, my students will be using these spaces during reading, writing, small-group instruction, and collaborative projects. We are currently working on strengthening our writing skills and learning how to organize our ideas into complete paragraphs. Having comfortable spaces where students can brainstorm, write, share ideas, and work together has made these lessons even more engaging. Thank you for helping create a classroom where my students can feel comfortable, confident, and excited to learn each day.
