When the project was funded the students were so excited that we were going to have new tools to better build our sets with and become fully hands on in that set building process. When the materials actually came in, I saw my typical set build students light up like a kid on Christmas morning, and even my students who are typically hesitant to set build got excited about learning how to use the tools.\r\n\r\n At the moment, most students have only learned the basics on how to safely & properly use these tools (a skill that will travel with them far beyond the theatrical implementation), but we are even more excited to put them to their full use for our upcoming show (Clue), which thanks to these tools will be able to have a more student designed and elaborate set! \r\n \r\n With the new tools one of the ones my students got the most excited about was actually one of the simplest. Prior to this project we were using simple rulers, straight edges and a single borrowed framing square when making designs, cuts, etc, so the addition on a speed square and combination square really excited my students who had used the other tools in the past. The simplicity of the edge on the speed square (to better hold the square in place) and the adjustability of the combination square, really simplified our cuts and having multiple allowed so much more freedom to my students than having to use 'found' straight edges or the borrowed square when we had it.\r\n\r\n Thank you so much, and we can't wait to see all the things my students continue to learn and create thanks to your help!","fullyFundedDate":1746653613365,"projectUrl":"project/cutting-a-path-theatrical-design-and/9245487/","projectTitle":"\"Cutting\" a Path: Theatrical Design and Carpentry","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bourque","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3719597_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1472735978752","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3719597"},{"teacherId":6332584,"projectId":9609251,"letterContent":"The calculators you provided completed a class set so my students no longer have to wait for another student to finish a problem.
