I get a small budget, but I have to plan which years I can afford even the class packs of markers and colored pencils. Every penny counts. \r\n\r\nMarkers and colored pencils may not seem to matter in a high school classroom, but in recent years, I've noticed students having more difficulties conceptualizing ideas in writing. It helps to make them draw their ideas. Doing that in plain old sketching pencils is boring to them. They enjoy the coloring aspect.\r\n\r\nWe were working on a simple hiring unit. This included the standard resume, cover letter, thank you note, but we also watched videos and discussed appropriate work and interview attire. Students made posters to remind everyone what we spoke about. They had a great time making their lists and deciding how to color them. This process really helped them keep these tips in their heads as they prepare for graduation.","fullyFundedDate":1769192051690,"projectUrl":"project/mid-year-supplies/9996194/","projectTitle":"Mid Year Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Reynolds","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10107831"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14109","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":869,"numTeachers":60,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":58,"percentWhite":26,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":14109,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Westgate High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Westgate High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/louisiana/iberia-parish-school-district/westgate-high-school/14109"}
