So far, they have successfully completed several hands‑on projects, including no‑bake cookie bites, vanilla cupcakes, lemon bread, strawberry shortcake cupcakes, salsa and quesadillas, and chicken and sweet‑potato hash. These experiences have strengthened their confidence in the kitchen and allowed them to practice essential culinary skills in a real‑world setting.\r\n\r\nTheir excitement was immediate when they first saw the new materials. The upgraded lab accessories, especially the knives, were a major highlight. Although we have not yet begun our sewing unit, students are already looking forward to using the new scissors. The mixing bowls with lids have been particularly valuable; because many labs now span two days, students can mix ingredients, seal the bowls, and store them safely in the refrigerator. This has eliminated our previous reliance on plastic bags, which often leaked, and has made our workflow far more efficient.\r\n\r\nWe currently conduct labs once a week in two of our classes, and the next three projects on our schedule are homemade rolls, cinnamon rolls, and pancakes. The remaining five classes are completing a customer‑service and ServSafe unit and are eager for their turn to enter the kitchen and apply what they have learned in a hands‑on environment.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our students are gaining practical skills, building confidence, and experiencing the joy of creating something with their own hands.
