Students are learning the entire engineering design process—from developing an idea and creating a digital design to prototyping, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and improving a finished product. One of the most meaningful ways we are using these materials is to help design and create customized parts for wheelchairs for toddlers, giving students an opportunity to see how engineering and technology can directly improve someone's life.\r\n\r\nThe 3D printer has also allowed our students to design and manufacture items that we can sell during school and community events to help fundraise for our STEM program. Instead of simply asking for donations, students are using their creativity and technical skills to create products, calculate material costs, produce them efficiently, and learn about entrepreneurship along the way. Money raised can then be invested back into materials and opportunities for our students, making the equipment provided through DonorsChoose an investment that continues to create new learning experiences.\r\n\r\nThe addition of microcontrollers has expanded these opportunities even further by allowing students to add electronics, sensors, coding, and automation to their designs. These materials have helped transform lessons into authentic engineering experiences where students aren't just learning about STEM—they are designing, building, programming, helping others, and creating products with a real purpose.","fullyFundedDate":1777995106849,"projectUrl":"project/student-maker-station-3d-printing-robo/10263454/","projectTitle":"Student Maker Station: 3d Printing, Robotics, and Microcontroller Projects","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Baldwin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10472007_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1774737626896","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10472007"},{"teacherId":10472007,"projectId":10173650,"letterContent":"We are extremely thankful for the support that helped us add a Nikon Z6 digital camera to our school.
