We use the SEL resources during morning meetings, class discussions, and throughout the day when students need help identifying and managing their emotions. The new rug has quickly become a favorite gathering place for our class. We recently used it during a lesson about feelings and emotions, where students sat together, shared how they were feeling, and practiced different strategies for calming their bodies and solving problems with friends. It has created a welcoming space where students feel comfortable talking, listening, and learning together.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were so excited to explore everything! They especially loved seeing the new rug and immediately wanted to sit together on it. They were excited to have new tools that helped them talk about their feelings in ways that felt fun and relatable. It has been wonderful to watch them begin using the language and strategies from our SEL lessons independently—whether that means recognizing when they need a break, naming an emotion, or helping a friend work through a problem.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building these skills as we learn more about friendship, kindness, problem-solving, and managing big emotions. We will continue using our SEL materials during daily lessons and real-life classroom moments so students can practice these skills when they need them most. Thank you for investing in our classroom and helping create a space where my students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Your generosity is making a meaningful difference every day!","fullyFundedDate":1778089802853,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-learning-in-2nd-grade/10265220/","projectTitle":"Social Emotional Learning in 2nd Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fults","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7647360"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_58627","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":454,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":83,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":62,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":28,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.1,"schoolId":58627,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about La Grange Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"La Grange Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/oldham-county-school-district/lagrange-elementary-school/58627"}
