High school science is inherently messy—whether it's a stray sprinkle of soil from a biology project or the inevitable dust from a chemistry lab. Before we had these tools, that mess just... lingered. The vacuum has turned our post-lab cleanup from a dreaded chore into a quick five-minute reset. It's given my students a sense of pride in their workspace; they're no longer working around yesterday's leftovers, and our sensitive equipment is finally staying grit-free.\r\n\r\nBeyond the visible mess, the air purifier has been a total lifesaver for our classroom health. We all know how quickly a bug can travel through a high school, but having a dedicated system to filter out germs and allergens has made a noticeable difference. I've seen fewer students struggling with itchy eyes or sneezing fits during peak allergy season, and it's a huge relief to know we're actively reducing the viral load in the room. It's created a much \"fresher\" environment where students feel better and can actually stay in their seats and focus on the science, rather than heading to the nurse's office.","fullyFundedDate":1771015914701,"projectUrl":"project/a-clean-room-is-a-learning-room/9895741/","projectTitle":"A Clean Room Is a Learning Room","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Boyter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10350574"},{"teacherId":10350574,"projectId":9896078,"letterContent":"Since receiving the new resources, my students and I have been using them to make abstract concepts more visible and accessible. One of our first activities involved using the transcription model, which allowed students to visualize the process step by step rather than just reading about it. Being able to see how each part fits together helped students slow down their thinking, ask better questions, and make connections they previously struggled to understand. It quickly became a reference point we returned to throughout the lesson.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reaction was immediate excitement and curiosity. Several students commented on how helpful it was to finally \"see\" what we had been discussing, and even students who are typically hesitant to participate were more willing to engage. The visual nature of the resources helped build confidence, especially for students who benefit from concrete models and hands-on learning.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, students are now ready to take the next step by applying what they've learned to an ongoing classroom project. They will continue using the transcription model as they analyze examples, practice identifying each stage, and explain the process in their own words. I am also excited to incorporate the other models into my curriculum, as they will allow students to explore additional concepts with the same level of clarity and engagement. Ultimately, these resources are helping students move beyond memorization toward deeper understanding, and your generosity has made a lasting impact on how learning happens in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1767210808033,"projectUrl":"project/stem-models/9896078/","projectTitle":"STEM models","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Boyter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10350574"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_58621","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1010,"numTeachers":59,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":86,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":16.7,"schoolId":58621,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ohio County High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ohio County High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/ohio-county-school-district/ohio-co-high-school/58621"}
