Maus is a Pulitzer Prize winning graphic novel by Art Spiegelman about his father's experience in the Holocaust. My students would read this piece alongside Night by Elie Wiesel, another true tale of survival and loss. I believe that reading makes you a more empathetic person. I also believe that reading true stories that show resilience can have a huge impact on students. My students already have an interest in the Holocaust. I just want to provide them with more stories in different genres to expand their thinking and understanding of the subject.
