I wanted to take a moment to tell you what your generosity has made possible.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom now happens daily for approximately 15–30 minutes of uninterrupted, protected time. This is sacred time—phones away, voices low, hearts focused. ALL of this reading is student choice, allowing students to select books that speak to their interests, identities, and curiosities. For emerging readers, that sense of ownership is everything. It builds confidence, stamina, and joy.\r\n\r\nYour books have been transformative. The ethnic and racial representation in the collection has meant more to my students than words can fully capture. Many of them are seeing themselves—their cultures, families, languages, neighborhoods, and lived experiences—reflected in books for the first time. That recognition has sparked excitement, pride, and a sense of belonging. Students regularly say things like, \"This book feels like me,\" \"I went through that as well,\" or \"This reminds me of my family.\"\r\n\r\nEvery single book you sent has already been read—and not just once. They are circulating constantly among students, passed from table to table with recommendations, smiles, and urgency: \"You've got to read this next.\" A few students who were previously reluctant readers now ask daily if they can take a book home or start a new one as soon as they finish. Others who struggled to stay focused are now sustaining attention for the full reading block, fully immersed.\r\n\r\nWhat brings me the most joy is watching students who once doubted themselves as readers experience success and delight. Your gift didn't just add books to our shelves—it created a reading community.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in their literacy, identity, and future. Your generosity is felt every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1757618357245,"projectUrl":"project/help-build-our-classroom-library-for-str/9687263/","projectTitle":"Help Build Our Classroom Library for Striving Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Prof. Fields","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9156238_orig.jpg?crop=1151,1151,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757081525264","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9156238"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_58294","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1313,"numTeachers":98,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":53,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":20,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.0,"schoolId":58294,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Iroquois High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Iroquois High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/jefferson-county-public-schools/iriquois-high-school/58294"}
