The Chromebooks will allow the students to be more mobile inside the classroom when we do projects and group work. Often times, we do pair programming and students will pair up and one person will type and the other person listens, advises, and checks for mistakes. Another unintended effect of the desktops that I'd like to eliminate is that the mice in our building like the magnitude of cords in my classroom and they are frequent, unwelcome, nightly visitors. With Chromebooks I can eliminate cords, charge them on the cart, and eventually I can send the mice packing. Another benefit is that the Chromebooks can be put away and students can use desk space to create projects offline, spread out study materials, and not have the expectation/pressure/temptation to go online everyday unnecessarily.
