We recently held our very first Campbell Bucks classroom store. Students earn Campbell Bucks throughout the month and then have the opportunity to decide how they want to use what they have earned. The excitement when students saw the store for the first time was great, but what impressed me most was how quickly they began making connections between our financial literacy lessons and their own decisions.\r\n\r\nSome students chose to spend all of their Campbell Bucks during our first store, while others purchased only a small item or two and decided to save the rest for next month. It created real conversations about the value of money, saving, spending, budgeting, and opportunity cost. Students began to realize that spending everything now could mean giving up the opportunity to purchase something they may want more later.\r\n\r\nThis was only our first store, and we will continue to hold one each month throughout the school year. I am looking forward to seeing how students' decisions change as they gain experience managing their Campbell Bucks, setting savings goals, and deciding what purchases are worth making. Thank you for giving my students an opportunity to experience financial decision-making instead of simply reading about it.","fullyFundedDate":1786366968242,"projectUrl":"project/campbell-bucks-teaching-real-world-mone/10433195/","projectTitle":"Campbell Bucks: Teaching Real-World Money Skills Through a Classroom Store","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Campbell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10230933_orig.jpg?crop=906,906,x0,y135&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1785718338273","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10230933"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_121240","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":614,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":97,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":null,"schoolId":121240,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Floyd Central High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Floyd Central High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/floyd-county-school-district/floyd-central-high-school/121240"}
