This is my twelfth year of teaching and my interactive student notebooks are easily my favorite part of my teaching methods. The notebooks provide a hands-on way for students to interact and learn content in a meaningful, tactile way. We use the notebooks in class to record notes, vocabulary, organizers, maps, and other relevant information. The notebooks allow students to practice organizational skills, note-taking skills, and ultimately allow them to use the notebook as a resource for years to come. \r\n\r\nI teach social studies in a gifted and talented accelerated program. I believe the interactive notebooks allow my instruction to cater to a variety of learning styles. My students learn in a variety of ways and receive information visually, orally, or through hands-on activities. The notebooks help combine these methods and provide a physical, tangible resource for students to utilize throughout the school year. Additionally, I have had former students come back and tell me that they continue to reference their notebook in high school and are thankful for the personal, helpful resource. \r\n\r\nThe supplies that were graciously provided enabled my students to have access to materials we used everyday. Students use the composition notebook to create their \"Individuals & Societies Notebook\". I use the colored copy paper to copy resources that students glued into their notebooks such as tab sheets, graphic organizers, maps, vocabulary charts, and more. Students used the glue sticks to glue the items onto the pages for safe keeping. \r\n\r\nThis was my first time applying for a Donors Choose project, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I was blown away by the support and resources that were provided by generous donors. Thank you for believing in me, my classroom, and public education. It is so incredible to see how my students are impacted by the generosity of others.","fullyFundedDate":1758746259541,"projectUrl":"project/interactive-notebooks/9459229/","projectTitle":"Interactive Notebooks","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Simandl","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10028712"},{"teacherId":6577125,"projectId":9620800,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, my students now have access to something many people take for granted: a calculator of their own to use during class. In a Title I middle school like ours, this is a bigger deal than most realize. For the first time, every student in my room can participate fully without sharing, waiting, or trying to solve complex problems without the tools they need. The shift in their confidence and independence has been immediate.\r\n\r\nThese calculators have changed the way my students learn. Instead of worrying about \"who has a calculator\" or rushing to borrow one before a quiz, they can focus entirely on the math in front of them. It's helped them explore more challenging concepts, check their work with intention, and take academic risks without fear. Several students who usually hesitate to participate are suddenly jumping into discussions because they feel prepared and supported.\r\n\r\nYour support means more than you know. You didn't just donate calculators—you removed a barrier to learning, and you sent a message to my students that their education matters. Thank you for believing in them and giving them the tools to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1757964792347,"projectUrl":"project/calculators-for-every-student-building/9620800/","projectTitle":"Calculators for Every Student: Building Confidence in Math","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kehrt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6577125_orig.png?crop=292,292,x4,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741956060466","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6577125"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_57986","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":772,"numTeachers":64,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":28,"percentWhite":42,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":61.0,"schoolId":57986,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tates Creek Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tates Creek Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/fayette-county-public-schools/tates-creek-middle-school/57986"}
