Your generosity has truly made a difference in the daily experiences of my students — both those learning English and those learning to better understand and appreciate Japanese culture.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the new resources in a variety of impactful ways. For example, the Japanese and English label stickers are displayed all around our classroom, helping my Japanese students connect familiar words to new English vocabulary while also sparking curiosity among my American students. The idiom cards have been especially helpful during our language block. American idioms can be confusing when translated literally, and these cards have given us opportunities to laugh, ask questions, and practice using phrases correctly in conversation. It has also led to some amazing conversations about Japanese wisdoms and proverbs that we would otherwise have not been exposed to. \r\n\r\nOne specific classroom moment that stands out happened during recess after I introduced the origami paper. A few of my Japanese students began folding cranes and simple animals. Soon, several of my American students gathered around, asking to learn. What started as a quiet activity quickly became a circle of students teaching one another; they were explaining folds in English, demonstrating patiently, and encouraging each other when mistakes happened. It was a beautiful moment of cultural exchange and collaboration. Since then, origami has become one of my students' favorite bonding activities, and students often choose to fold together during free time.\r\n\r\nYour support has not only strengthened language skills, but it has also strengthened friendships, confidence, and cultural appreciation within our classroom community.
