I wish you could see the difference something that may seem so simple has made for my students.\r\n\r\nI teach students with moderate to severe disabilities, and many of my students have sensory, communication, and emotional regulation needs. Sometimes the school day can simply become too much. They may feel overwhelmed, frustrated, overstimulated, or just need a safe place to calm their bodies before they are ready to learn again.\r\n\r\nOur bubble tubes have helped us create that place.\r\n\r\nMy students absolutely love watching the bubbles move through the tubes and seeing the lights change. I have watched students who were upset or overwhelmed sit near them, sometimes in their rocking chair, with a weighted blanket, or curled up in our cubby box, and slowly begin to calm.They also enjoy the music and water sounds that can be played through the 4 foot bubble tube. We use them during sensory breaks, as part of our calming area, and sometimes as a motivator after a student has worked hard on something that is difficult for them.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite things about the bubble tubes is that they give my students a way to take a break without making that break feel like a punishment. They can step away, regulate, and then come back when they are ready. For some of my students, learning how to calm their bodies and return to a task is just as important as learning to read, write, or do math.\r\n\r\nThey have also brought so much JOY into our classroom! In fact, one of the assistants in the room could not believe the project was funded so quickly! I think the adults were just as excited as the students! My students' faces light up when the tubes come on. The first day we turned them on, they had to take turns sitting in front of them because they just couldn't seem to get close enough. Each day when the tubes come on they gather around them, watch the bubbles, notice the colors, and share the experience with one another. Those little moments of excitement and connection mean more than you probably realize. Honestly, the hardest part is keeping their hands off of them so we can keep them safe and working for years!\r\n\r\nAs their teacher, I am always trying to create a classroom where my students feel safe, loved, accepted, and successful. Because of your generosity, we now have another tool to help make that possible.\r\n\r\nYou didn't just purchase bubble tubes for our classroom. You helped give my students a calming space, sensory support, motivation, and a little bit of magic during their school day.\r\n\r\nThank you for choosing to invest in my students and for helping me give them a classroom that meets them exactly where they are. We are so incredibly grateful for you!\r\n\r\nWith love and appreciation,\r\n\r\nMrs. Brown & Her Amazing Students ❤️","fullyFundedDate":1781643362571,"projectUrl":"project/stop-regulate-and-learn/10339818/","projectTitle":"Stop- Regulate and Learn!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10532419_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1781660523259","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10532419"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63437","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":429,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":90,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":63437,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hardinsburg Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hardinsburg Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/breckinridge-county-school-district/hardinsburg-elementary-school/63437"}
