Early childhood education is centered around books and the frequent reading that allows our students to learn in such a variety of ways. In my classroom, I read between 2-4 books daily. With every read aloud, we focus on different things. During whole group learning, we focus on the content of the book. This is a time that we focus on a certain curriculum based topic - animals, community helpers, focusing on our health, using our imagination, etc. \r\nOne of my favorite books, is called \"Not a Box.\" This is a book with few words that uses illustrations to show that by using our imaginations, a box can be anything we want to it be. We always use this book in our imagination unit. After reading it, we use materials in the classroom to turn cardboard boxes into whatever the students choose. We have seen race cars, castles, rocket ships, firetrucks, etc. \r\nThere are no limits to reading, and I cannot thank you enough for helping contribute to our classroom so we can expand little minds with the help of these new books!","fullyFundedDate":1757532832064,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-for-my-littles/9423126/","projectTitle":"Literacy for My Littles!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jourdan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7345699_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1658324376172","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7345699"},{"teacherId":10080224,"projectId":9464487,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of flexible seating to our special education classroom. When my students first saw the new seating options, their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. They were eager to try each one and immediately began finding the spots that made them feel most comfortable and ready to learn. It was an instant moment of joy and ownership for them, and it truly set a positive tone in our classroom.\r\nThe flexible seating has made a meaningful difference for my students who learn best while moving. Having choices such as wobble stools, cushions, and other seating options allows them to release energy in a safe and productive way while staying focused on their lessons. I've already noticed improved attention, increased participation, and fewer distractions as students are able to meet their sensory and movement needs in a positive manner.\r\nAs we continue our current lessons, students will be using the new seating during reading groups, writing activities, and hands-on math practice. This support is helping them build confidence, independence, and a greater sense of comfort at school. I currently have two students in my Preschool class with Autism. Both of these students are very smart individuals who require a different type of learning than other students in my classroom. \r\n\r\nI wanted to try this technology with these students as it gives them an opportunity for independent learning while I work in whole group with the remaining students. The Osmo Kit and IPad have a variety of learning games that allow these children to work on more difficult math related skills as well as reading. \r\n\r\nI have loved seeing these students get engaged with learning. It is difficult for them to focus on learning in the whole group setting, but this technology has allowed them the ability to focus on something of their own. \r\n\r\nThank you again for contributing to this project and allowing these students the opportunity to grow and learn in a different way!","fullyFundedDate":1730407610063,"projectUrl":"project/tinkering-with-technology/8885009/","projectTitle":"Tinkering with Technology","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jourdan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7345699_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1658324376172","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7345699"},{"teacherId":7345699,"projectId":8824401,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations for our literacy project. Reading is an essential part of our day, and having new and different books to go along with our curriculum is such a blessing.\r\n\r\nWe use books in our classroom in a variety of ways. We read during whole group learning time, have books available to students during center time, and read to individual students at their request. The books we have received have been a great addition for each of these uses. \r\n\r\nWe use books to introduce and teach the parts of a book (front, back, spine, author, illustrator) as well as to discuss different academic concepts. While reading we talk about the events of the story, letters we recognize, rhyming words, etc. But reading is also a great way to work on focus and attention. So many of my Preschool kiddos have never been read to or know how to sit still and in attention for 5 minutes or so. Reading is a great way to get students involved and allow them to think and use their imagination. \r\n\r\nWe are so appreciative of your support to allow us more opportunities to help our students learn and grow!","fullyFundedDate":1727991513679,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-for-my-little-learners/8824401/","projectTitle":"Literacy for My Little Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jourdan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7345699_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1658324376172","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7345699"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_57733","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":230,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":81,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"11.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":79.4,"schoolId":57733,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Temple Hill Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Temple Hill Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/barren-county-school-district/temple-hill-elementary-school/57733"}
