Many of my students come to school without the materials they need—and for several of them, the snacks they receive in my classroom are the only extra food they get outside of regular school meals. Because of your donation, they can come into my room, grab a snack, regroup, and head back to class ready to learn.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived, students lit up with excitement seeing pencils, markers, pens, and construction paper laid out like treasures. These items may seem small, but to them, they mean belonging, readiness, and dignity. We go through hundreds of pencils and markers each year because students work hard, lose materials easily, or simply cannot afford to replace them. For years, I purchased all of these items out of my own pocket. Your support has lifted a tremendous burden and directly filled a crucial need.\r\n\r\nWith these new supplies, I am able to maintain a well-stocked, welcoming classroom where no child has to feel embarrassed or left behind because they don't have what they need. The snacks help students stay focused, regulate their emotions, and meet basic needs so learning can happen. The markers, pencils, pens, glue sticks, and paper support daily instruction, hands-on activities, and creative projects across all subjects.\r\n\r\nYour kindness ensures that every student who enters my room has what they need to be successful—no questions asked. Thank you for helping me care for them in ways that extend far beyond academics. Your generosity has made an immediate and meaningful difference in their school day, their confidence, and their overall well-being.\r\n\r\nWe appreciate you more than you know.\r\n\r\n—Mrs. Starr and her amazing students","fullyFundedDate":1758561461489,"projectUrl":"project/supplies-and-snacks-20252026/9468064/","projectTitle":"Supplies and Snacks-2025/2026!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Starr","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7320424"},{"teacherId":7320424,"projectId":9455816,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our Special Olympics athletes and Unified Partners now have the equipment we need to practice, learn, and shine. We serve over 30 Special Olympics athletes and an equal number of Unified Partners, and before this project was funded, our practice equipment was either old, warped, or simply didn't exist. Your donation changed that instantly.\r\n\r\nThe excitement on our students' faces when the new equipment arrived was unforgettable. Students immediately began planning which events they wanted to try first—bowling, bocce, basketball, shot put, javelin, and more. For some of our athletes, Special Olympics is the only extracurricular activity they are able to participate in. Having quality equipment means they can practice safely, build their skills, and gain confidence as they see themselves improve.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened the day we introduced the Turbojavs and shot puts. Students who had never tried a throwing event before lined up, cheering for each other as they learned proper technique. Our Unified Partners, who work side-by-side with athletes, were thrilled to have real tools to model and practice with. These shared experiences strengthen friendships, teach acceptance, and build the inclusive community we strive for every day. Our motto is \"Choose to Include!\" and your support helps us live that out.\r\n\r\nWith these new materials, we can now run consistent practices, track progress more accurately with the measuring tape and equipment, and prepare our students for upcoming competitions. The next steps include practicing regularly in each event area and helping students set personal goals for the spring Special Olympics season. Your gift ensures every athlete—no matter their ability—has a chance to grow and succeed.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students.\r\nThank you for supporting inclusion.\r\nAnd thank you for making a lasting impact on our school and our community.\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful.\r\n\r\n—Mrs. Starr and the Fredonia Unified Partners & Special Olympics Team","fullyFundedDate":1752591981711,"projectUrl":"project/equipment-for-special-olympics/9455816/","projectTitle":"Equipment for Special Olympics!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Starr","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7320424"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_57638","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":315,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":71,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":93,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":81.0,"schoolId":57638,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fredonia Junior Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fredonia Junior Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/fredonia-unified-school-district-484/fredonia-high-school/57638"}
