When I use the books, it will mainly we a way to teach about the artists, however, with all our books we talk about the author, illustrator, talk about how we can look at the pictures to see what we think the words might way, follow print left to right, top to bottom, counts words in sentences, and many other things. \r\n\r\nIn my classroom, we have a time set where I read Aloud to the children. I ask them questions as I read, and we make inferences. We look at and observe the pictures, and recall at the end. We also have time in the classroom at centers time where students can look at books and be read to 1:1 or in smaller groups.
