It means the world to me that others care about education. My students were excited to know that we were adding flexible seating, a classroom rug, and some STEM activities to our classroom. The STEM activities have been extremely helpful this winter as my classroom had to have recess indoors due to cold weather temperatures. I could see students discussing and creating their designs of the bridges or marble course. I loved looking at their faces when their design worked or even failed. Lots of creativity and collaboration takes place with those two activities. \r\nThe classroom rug has offered my classroom a gathering spot in the front of the room to start each day during our morning meeting. We gather on the rug and discuss examples of character. Students also use this rug as a place to work or play games. They like sitting on it because it is comfortable and soft. Finally, the flexible seating, floor chairs and wobble stools add offers my students a different place to sit and work other than a hard chair. Flexible seating has helped my students stay more focused and enjoy being in school.","fullyFundedDate":1730392326983,"projectUrl":"project/stem-activities-and-flexible-seating/8508745/","projectTitle":"STEM Activities and Flexible Seating!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mogensen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9203743_orig.jpg?crop=1128,1128,x1440,y748&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692416668692","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9203743"},{"teacherId":9053996,"projectId":7511592,"letterContent":"I wanted to express our heartfelt gratitude for making our \"Snack Attack Project\" a reality for my kindergarten students. Your support means the world to us, and I can't emphasize enough how much of a positive impact it has had on our classroom.\r\n\r\nOne of the most important aspects of your contribution is the provision of snacks for our young learners. Having a snack during the day may seem like a small thing, but for these children, it's monumental. It fuels their bodies and minds, allowing them to concentrate and participate fully in their lessons. It's like a little burst of energy that keeps their spirits high.\r\n\r\nHowever, what makes your generosity even more significant is that we are in a low-income school. For some of my students, this snack might be the only reliable source of sustenance they can count on during the day. It's heartbreaking to think that some of them might not have enough food at home, making this daily snack a lifeline for them. Your support ensures that no child goes hungry in our classroom, and it eases the worries of parents struggling to make ends meet.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for choosing to fund our project. Your kindness and generosity have not only improved our students' learning experience but have also brought joy and relief to families facing challenges. You've made a profound difference in the lives of these young learners, and for that, we are truly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1693689709576,"projectUrl":"project/creating-memories-one-day-at-a-time/7511592/","projectTitle":"Creating Memories One Day at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fykstra","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9053996_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1709604189224","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/helpmissgroff"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_52249","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":593,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":70,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":47,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":61.3,"schoolId":52249,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Leeds Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Leeds Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/iowa/sioux-city-community-school-district/leeds-elementary-school/52249"}
