When the materials arrived, my students were immediately excited and curious about what we would be learning. One of our favorite moments was creating personal first aid kits—students carefully selected items, learned their purpose, and proudly shared how they would use them in real-life situations. It was powerful to see them connect classroom learning to real-world application.\r\nEach week, we've been using the materials to explore a new life skill through hands-on experiences. During our \"restaurant week,\" students transformed the classroom into a working restaurant, practicing how to read menus, place orders, and interact respectfully with others. Their confidence grew quickly, and many students shared that they felt more prepared to handle these situations outside of school.\r\nBecause of your support, my students are gaining practical skills that will stay with them for life. As we continue, we're looking forward to diving into topics like fire safety and personal hygiene, with even more opportunities for role-play and real-world application. When the materials arrived, I was able to organize each unit into clearly labeled, color-coded binders and filing bags. Students immediately noticed the difference—everything had a place, and they could easily find what they needed. One student said, \"It's so much easier now—we can just get started!\"\r\nWith the new system, math centers run more smoothly and independently. Students use the binders to follow directions and access game boards, while the filing bags keep all manipulatives organized and ready to go. This has allowed me to spend more time supporting learning instead of managing materials. Students are more engaged, collaborating with partners, and practicing math skills through meaningful, hands-on games.\r\nThanks to your support, our classroom is more organized, efficient, and student-centered. As we continue through each unit, students will build confidence and deepen their understanding of math concepts in a fun, structured way.","fullyFundedDate":1689611136986,"projectUrl":"project/math-center-materials/7474734/","projectTitle":"Math Center Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Prochaska","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9057239_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1685669485833","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mariahprochaska"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_51900","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":436,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":23,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":59,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"9.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":72.4,"schoolId":51900,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Carver Community School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Carver Community School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/iowa/des-moines-public-schools/carver-community-school/51900"}
