The reading materials and strategies allow me to better differentiate instruction so all students can access the text in a way that meets their individual needs. Some students use the materials for guided reading and comprehension practice, while others benefit from visual supports, small-group strategies, or independent practice tools. The mindfulness items have also become part of our daily routine, especially during behavior check-ins, helping students take breaks, reset, and return to learning feeling more regulated and focused.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were very excited and curious. They immediately wanted to explore the books, tools, and mindfulness resources. Many students expressed how happy they were to have choices that fit their learning styles, and several shared that the calming tools helped them feel more relaxed and ready to learn. Seeing their excitement and engagement reinforced how meaningful these resources are for creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.\r\n\r\nThanks to our donors, the next steps for our students include deepening their reading comprehension skills and applying new strategies to current lessons. We are continuing to work on building stamina, confidence, and independence in reading while also strengthening social-emotional skills through mindful moments and reflection. These resources will continue to support students as they grow academically and behaviorally, helping them succeed not only in the classroom but beyond it as well.","fullyFundedDate":1757882087529,"projectUrl":"project/starting-in-special-education/9508634/","projectTitle":"Starting in Special Education","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Baumann","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10097680"},{"teacherId":8848896,"projectId":9432713,"letterContent":"This project transforms our classroom into a dynamic learning space where movement and academics go hand in hand. For many of them, this is their very first experience using technology not just to consume content, but to create, explore, and experiment. With these robots, my students are learning essential 21st-century skills like sequencing, cause and effect, logical reasoning, and problem-solving—all through play-based, hands-on experiences that are perfect for their age and developmental level. What's even more powerful is how the robots naturally encourage collaboration and communication, as students work in pairs or small groups to figure out how to give their robots the right set of instructions.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students the most is the immediate feedback they get from their efforts. When they enter a sequence of commands and see the robot follow their code, they light up with joy and confidence. They cheer when it works, and they try again when it doesn't—without fear of failure. The learning is active, joyful, and deeply meaningful. One student who was previously hesitant to participate in group activities has become one of our most enthusiastic coders. She now takes the lead during robot challenges, patiently helping her peers understand how to adjust their commands and troubleshoot problems. It's been incredibly rewarding to watch her—and others—grow more confident, curious, and willing to take risks.\r\n\r\nThis kind of learning experience would not have been possible without your support. Thank you for helping us open new doors for our youngest learners! Your generosity has truly sparked a love of learning that will last far beyond this school year.","fullyFundedDate":1739813632217,"projectUrl":"project/coding-for-curious-minds-code-go-robo/9063881/","projectTitle":"Coding for Curious Minds: Code & Go Robots in Kindergarten","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rice","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8848896_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1668865155172","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8848896"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_52056","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":507,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":49,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":77.0,"schoolId":52056,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Wilson Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Wilson Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/iowa/davenport-community-school-district/wilson-elementary-school/52056"}
