As a first-year special education teacher, having these resources available from the very beginning of the school year has made an incredible difference. My students quickly began exploring the different seating options and finding the spaces where they feel most comfortable and ready to learn. Rather than every student being expected to learn in exactly the same way or in exactly the same place, they now have choices that allow them to recognize what they need to be successful.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite things has been watching the students begin to take ownership of our classroom. They are learning that choosing a different seat, taking a little space, or using a classroom resource isn't about avoiding learning—it can actually be part of figuring out how they learn best. These materials have helped me create an environment where we can work on academics while also practicing independence, self-advocacy, and self-regulation. Those skills are every bit as important to my students' long-term success.\r\n\r\nWe are still at the very beginning of our school year, and I am excited to see how the students continue to grow as they become more comfortable with our routines and with one another. Your generosity gave us more than classroom supplies; it helped give my students a space designed with their individual needs in mind. Thank you for investing in my students and helping us start the year with the resources we need to learn, grow, and succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1778354108826,"projectUrl":"project/helping-students-regulate-refocus-and/10231497/","projectTitle":"Helping Students Regulate, Refocus, and Succeed","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kainz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10486667_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x138,y394&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777313529727","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10486667"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_51667","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":849,"numTeachers":79,"percentFrplEligible":38,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":67,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":7,"gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":88.9,"schoolId":51667,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Prairie Point Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Prairie Point Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/iowa/college-community-school-district/prairie-middle-school/51667"}
