I was able to purchase 8 laptop computers to use for robotics in my Principles of Engineering class. The students have used these laptops with VEX Robotics hardware and software. They learned how to program sensors and motors and are completing several design projects. The students enjoy the challenge of taking an idea and using what they have learned to make their idea into a reality. One group created a a prototype of a soccer goal that lights up when a ball crosses the goal line. Another group created a prototype of an autonomous delivery vehicle that delivers parts back and forth on an assembly line.
