Because of you, our library story time is now filled with some storytelling magic. When the kids first saw the storytelling kits, they could hardly contain their excitement. As we unpacked everything, little voices called out the characters they recognized and were anxious to learn about characters they did not know. \r\n\r\nDuring our recent lesson on poetry, we did the Five Little Monkeys poem with the storytelling glove and props. It's amazing how the props helped even our shyest students feel confident and eager to participate. They weren't just listening—they were participating in the story.\r\n\r\nThe Lakeshore Storytime Viewers have also been a huge hit! Students choose a story reel and use the viewer to follow along. It's been a wonderful way to promote independent reading and storytelling, even the youngest students. They love retelling the stories in their own words, often adding their own twists and sound effects!\r\n\r\nWhat's next? I am continuing to build my library storytelling collection. The props definitely help to bring life to stories. These tools are helping us build early literacy, sequencing, vocabulary, and most importantly—confidence.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your generosity has brought joy and learning into our library in such a special way.","fullyFundedDate":1733260879145,"projectUrl":"project/capturing-a-community-of-readers-with-st/8980749/","projectTitle":"Capturing a Community of Readers With Storytelling Kits","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schrick","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1792109"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44635","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":439,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":90,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"36.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":38.1,"schoolId":44635,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Central Lyon Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Central Lyon Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/iowa/central-lyon-community-school-district/central-lyon-elementary-middle-school/44635"}
