We LOVE Elephant and Piggie. When a student hears a book in their own language first, then hears it in English, they make connections between the words they are hearing. It can help them understand the material better and also help them learn the language.\r\n\r\nWe did a reading of \"There's a Bird on my Head\" in both English and Spanish. Then we discussed what happens before and what happens after, and beginning, middle, and end of the book. We also did a deep dive into the illustrations where I covered the words and the children had to describe what may have been happening on that page.
