They were absolutely immersed in the story and hanging on every word. We studied vocabulary, characters, settings, problems, solutions, and cause and effect while we read. Then we were able to compare and contrast the novel with the movie we watched as a celebration of our efforts!\r\n\r\nYour donations also funded several fun and exciting activities for the 2nd graders. Each class rotated through our 8 classroom stations, doing coding activities with actual robots, putting their STEM skills to work by building boats and actually getting to race them, and creating \"quadramas\" of scenes from the novel. In the process, our students learned important skills like working together, following directions, and encouraging one another in their endeavors.
