Each student created their own original design using Tinkercad, learning how to model in 3D and bring their ideas to life. They were so proud to see their concepts transform from digital models into real, tangible objects on our 3D printers.\r\n\r\nOur printers have become an essential part of the classroom!!!!! Our students use them regularly to create fidgets, classroom tools, and personal projects. But most importantly, they are not just printing objects; they are designing, problem-solving, and iterating like true engineers. This project gave them the opportunity to think creatively, apply STEM skills, and experience the full design-to-print process.\r\n\r\nYour donation made this meaningful learning possible, and my students are already excited for what they can design next. Your generosity helped my students be successful for their concert this past spring and created memories they will carry with them for years to come. I will be able to help countless students better learn very important music reading skills that will have application across curricular subjects, thereby helping them improve not only in the choir classroom, but in their other courses as well. \r\n\r\nTechnology gives teachers a conduit to convey critical content in a more effective way than traditional educational models would allow. As a choir director, this is extremely important because when my students come to me, nearly all of them are interacting with a choral score for the first time in their lives. It is akin to learning a foreign language; it takes time and patience in order to become fluent. \r\n\r\nWith the technology provided by this project, I am able to demonstrate necessary skills to students in real time that they can immediately apply to their own work in a way that promotes comprehension, application, and hopefully mastery. This allows me to reach an entire classroom at one time, versus singling out those who struggle.\r\n\r\nI plan to continue learning and exploring new and exciting ways to integrate this technology into my curriculum. A little about Legos and why I choose to buy them for the library..Legos have a significant positive impact on children in school by enhancing their creativity and problem-solving skills. Through building with Legos, children are encouraged to think outside the box, explore different design possibilities, and develop innovative solutions. This process fosters critical thinking as students work through challenges, such as balancing structures or creating complex designs. These activities tap into the imagination of children, providing them with the opportunity to explore abstract concepts in a hands-on and engaging way....and in 2025 Middle School, we actively need this.\r\n\r\nIn addition to boosting creativity, Legos help children strengthen their fine motor skills and spatial awareness. As students manipulate small Lego pieces, they improve their dexterity and hand-eye coordination. The act of assembling and disassembling blocks also aids in strengthening cognitive abilities related to spatial relationships, which is essential for success in subjects like math, science, and engineering. Understanding how pieces fit together fosters a deeper comprehension of geometric shapes and measurements, skills that are transferable to other areas of learning.\r\n\r\nMoreover, working with Legos encourages collaboration and teamwork among students. In a school setting, building projects often require cooperation, communication, and sharing of ideas, all of which are vital social skills. When students work together on Lego-based tasks, they learn how to compromise, listen to one another, and contribute their strengths to a group effort. These experiences not only help students develop interpersonal skills but also create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel motivated and confident in their abilities. It is so fun to see a group composed of a cheerleader, football player, and musician...all 12 years old...working together to build the Harry Potter castle.
