Every single day we not only have enough playground balls to have for our class, but can take some out for our friends too. We have a fifth grade kickball game scheduled! When we've had indoor recess, our kids have been able to spread apart the desks and play hacky sack. Having all these options to be moving at recess and collaborating with peers has been so much simpler. I love the diverse uses for the recess play balls. With your help, I'm able to truly offer a variety of new novels that enrich the lives of my high ability learners. Adventure stories such as Mars Patel, Gregor the Overlander, and The Tale of Desperaux had my students talking, sharing books, and having fun reading. These new texts allowed them to look for conflicts, examine change in how characters live, and even theme. I am so thankful for students to have CHOICE in the books that they read instead of only a full class novel. \r\n\r\nSeveral of these stories were openings to a full series that my kids have dove into headfirst. A group of four girls is into the second novel of the Mars Patel series and two of my boys loved the Swifts!
