The Maker Space is open on days with inclement weather, during periods of standardized testing, and during an after-school STEM Club. Last year our school had about 500 students and over the course of the year, the Maker Space was used by over 3,000 individuals. That is a LOT of building, collaborating, and thinking.\r\n\r\nOne of the constraints we faced was having enough activities to support larger groups. Thanks to your generosity, we have added three new independent activities which foster students' resilience and engineering skills. Also, we now have double the amount of MagnaTiles, allowing for bigger builds and more student engagement. Having additional materials is especially important this year as our school has grown to over 560 students. Your gift was especially important just this week, as we had nearly 50 students using the library Maker Space at one time - all students who needed an alternative place to go while others participated in standardized testing. \r\n\r\nThe accompanying photos show these activities in use. You'll have to imagine the grins and cheers as students feel success with each of the activities. I appreciate the hugs and overhearing kids say, \"I love the library.\" Your contribution to purchase magnetic poetry, magnetic gears, 3D gears, and other building activities will engage students this year and for years to come.
