We are using the Play Carpet for Teaching as a comfortable, organized space for small-group instruction and literacy activities. The 36-Slot Mail Sorters have helped us create individual spaces for student work and materials, making it easier for students to stay organized and take ownership of their learning. We also use the Giant Classroom Timer and Literacy Centers Management Chart to help students understand transitions, manage their time, and work independently during literacy centers. One special moment was watching students confidently move through their centers, check the chart to see where they needed to go, and use the timer to stay focused without needing constant reminders.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were excited and curious, especially about the giant timer and the new classroom organization tools. They immediately wanted to explore everything and were thrilled to see materials that made our classroom feel more like a space designed just for them. The Ticonderoga pencils, cardstock, Post-it notes, and blue pens are also being put to great use during writing, reading responses, and classroom activities. The simple addition of these supplies has given students more opportunities to write, create, revise, and share their thinking.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue strengthening our literacy routines and building student independence. Students will rotate through literacy centers, complete reading and writing activities, and use Post-it notes to record questions, new vocabulary, and important ideas from their reading. We will also use cardstock to create projects that demonstrate what students are learning. We have been using the Lakeshore Double-Sided Magnetic Tiles with Phonics, Lakeshore Classroom Magnetic Letters Kit for Beginning Readers, and Magnetic Write & Wipe Sentence Strips during our phonics and early reading lessons. One of our favorite activities has been building words with the magnetic letters and tiles, then using the sentence strips to put those words into simple sentences. The LAZGOL Dry Erase Markers and Small Magnetic Erasers have also made it easy for students to practice writing, make corrections, and try again independently.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were immediately eager to explore them. They loved seeing the bright, hands-on pieces and couldn't wait to start building words. The excitement quickly turned into meaningful learning as they began identifying letter sounds, blending sounds together, and celebrating when they successfully made a word. It has been wonderful to see even hesitant learners become more confident when they can physically move the letters and see how sounds come together.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will continue building on these skills by creating and reading more complex words and using them in complete sentences. We will practice changing one letter at a time to make new words, read the sentences we create together, and then write our own sentences using the dry-erase materials. These resources are helping my students become more independent and confident readers while making phonics practice fun and engaging. The Smartboard allows me to make lessons more visual, interactive, and engaging while providing students with immediate opportunities to practice what they are learning.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is being able to **get up and be part of the lesson!** They love coming to the board to show their thinking, move objects, write answers, and help solve problems. I have already noticed that students who may be hesitant to participate during traditional whole-group instruction become much more eager to raise their hands when they know they will have an opportunity to interact with the Smartboard. It gives my students a sense of ownership and makes learning feel exciting.\r\n\r\nThe students who have especially warmed to the Smartboard are those who learn best through **movement, visuals, and hands-on experiences**. It gives them another way to demonstrate what they know, even when putting their ideas on paper may be challenging. As a teacher, I am excited because this technology allows me to reach more learners in more meaningful ways. We used the cardstock to create colorful name tags for students, which they then used alongside the lowercase stampers. While we previously had an uppercase set that supported basic letter recognition, the addition of lowercase letters has been essential for name spelling and lowercase letter recognition, especially when paired with playdough and kinetic sand. Incorporating multisensory learning through play helps students build deeper understanding and retention. \r\n\r\nWhen we introduced the materials and displayed the name tags, students were thrilled and highly engaged, eagerly searching for the correct letters to spell their names. During Centers, we actually had to limit the amount of time that students were spending in the sensory table exploring the letters so that others could have a turn. It was a wonderful problem to have as it made my teacher heart elated to see students excited about spelling their names!\r\n\r\nAs preschool students, the next steps for our learners are focused on strengthening foundational skills through play-based, hands-on experiences. Students will continue developing name recognition and letter awareness by expanding from first names to last names and familiar environmental words. Using the lowercase letter stampers with playdough, kinetic sand, and guided writing activities, preschoolers will practice letter formation, early phonics, and fine motor skills. This technology has become the heart of our instruction, so much so that it has replaced my traditional whiteboard. Because the board is interactive and incredibly clear, my students can see lessons more easily, follow along with modeled strategies, and engage with content in ways that weren't possible before. The ability to manipulate the screen, highlight text, sort words, model steps in real time, and show visuals, has made abstract concepts far more concrete for my second graders.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest impacts has been the flexibility the rolling stand provides. I can move the board to different parts of the room for small groups, whole-group lessons, partner work, and intervention. This means every student gets a front-row seat and can interact with the material more directly. My students are especially excited when they get to come up and move pieces on the board, demonstrate their thinking, or check their own answers. The hands-on, interactive nature of the Smart Board keeps them focused, motivated, and eager to participate.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who used to be hesitant during lessons are now among the first to volunteer. One student who struggles with writing has found confidence using digital tools to show his thinking, and another who is easily distracted stays engaged longer because the visuals are so crisp and dynamic.
