Because of you, my first-grade students were able to experience our caterpillar unit in a hands-on and meaningful way.\r\nWe used the caterpillars and materials every day as part of our life science lessons. One of the most exciting moments was when the students gathered around the cups and noticed the caterpillars moving for the very first time. They immediately began making observations, asking thoughtful questions, and carefully recording what they saw in their science journals. Watching their curiosity and excitement come alive was truly special.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the students were absolutely thrilled. There were gasps, big smiles, and lots of excitement as they realized we would be raising real caterpillars in our classroom. Many students shared that they had never seen a caterpillar up close before, and they were eager to learn how it would grow and change.\r\n\r\nNext, our class continued observing the caterpillars as they formed chrysalises and eventually emerged as butterflies. Students tracked each stage of the life cycle, practiced descriptive writing, and reflected on how living things grow and change. Your donation has given my students a meaningful learning experience they will remember for years to come.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving us a glimpse of science in action and for being such an important part of our classroom journey.","fullyFundedDate":1759249588547,"projectUrl":"project/grow-and-release-an-observational-exper/9447815/","projectTitle":"Grow and Release! an Observational Experiment With 1st Graders!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8420858_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750700054391","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8420858"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_20081","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":704,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":89,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.4,"schoolId":20081,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about J.E.
