It has been a game changer with my ELL students. I have 2 students who I use them with. They are especially helpful when I am explaining a project and giving directions. \r\n What is nice about the translator earbuds is that under some of the languages it offers subcategories for different regions that speak that language. One of my students is from Venezuela and we were able to find Venezuela as one of the options under Spanish. She was so happy since she had just come to America and doesn't speak any English. None of the students had used a digital camera before and have been quite excited to learn. They are using their photography and digital editing skills to create original compositions that visualize self care in the world around them by focusing on the details. Seeing the world through the perspective of a lens, determining how to frame the subject, creating moods with lighting, and applying composition rules for photography has really opened up a new perspective for them. Some students have voiced, \"I really like this class now\", when they were not so excited about it in the beginning. Having students write about their project has really stretched their creativity and self-expression and peer critique being used with all projects has allowed a few quiet students to find their voice and step out and talk to other students. Photography has given many students more confidence and another way to express themselves. Wrapping up this project by having their work displayed at a district art show has created a real-world experience and sense of pride for students and their teacher.\r\n\r\nWe appreciate all that you have done to make this experience come true!","fullyFundedDate":1730816855948,"projectUrl":"project/visualizing-self-care/8813402/","projectTitle":"Visualizing Self Care","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Powers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9773527_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727060450993","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/chsdigitaldesign"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_19297","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1126,"numTeachers":109,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":79,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"10.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":77.5,"schoolId":19297,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Central High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Central High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/indiana/evansville-vanderburgh-co-sd/central-high-school/19297"}
