Your generosity has truly transformed our classroom's construction zone. Since the materials arrived, we have seen students visit the block area for the first time this school year, build more elaborate structures, and collaborate with one another to bring their ideas to life. The excitement in the room was infectious as the students helped unbox the new resources and find the perfect spots for them in our block center.\r\n\r\nI wanted to share a wonderful example of how these materials are already fueling learning. One student recently decided to build a nest for an eagle. He discovered that by placing two half-circles together, he could create a whole circle for the base. He then used arch blocks to build up the sides and hollow blocks to construct an entire forest for the eagle to live in, even using triangle blocks to represent evergreen trees. This student spent sixty minutes focused on his creation, sharing his process with friends and using complex vocabulary that simply would not have emerged without these specific resources.\r\n\r\nI am so excited to see the many conversations and discoveries that will happen now that we have these tools in our classroom. They earn pom poms throughout the day to add to their bucket and every other week I open up my desk pet shop up and students get to purchase items to add to their desk pet habitat. These desk pets also help with number fluency as they have to count out their pom poms and organize them in groups of 10. We've used the post-its and black sharpies for interactive anchor charts and fun colorful directed drawing artwork. The batteries have been great to replace push lights and recordable talking buttons. The line spots have helped us quickly get lined up each and every day.\r\n\r\nYour donation means so much to us!
