They are already enjoying the novel, Damselfly, which I selected as an alternative to the 1950's novel Lord of the Flies. This novel is very dense and quite difficult for my students to understand. They have not engaged in the novel over the years. However, with the addition of Damselfly, with similar topics, my students are engaged.\r\n\r\nReading is such a lost art in life, and it is often a difficult task for my language learners. It is so important for any reader to read for pleasure. I know that my students will enjoy Damselfly and its themes and topics. I will be creating activities for the students to complete as we work with the novel over the next few weeks, which will demonstrate their comprehension.\r\n\r\nAgain, I so appreciate your investment in my students and my classroom. I know they will never forget the kindness that strangers have shown my students.
