We have had so.much.fun with all our new items! And, of course, lots of learning has been had as well. The whiteboards have been such a great tool! We have used them for reading, writing, math, fun, and as you saw from the pictures, we have even used them to take our learning outside. The old whiteboards I had were very well used and never fully came clean and had some cracks from years of being well loved. The first several times the kiddos used these new boards they kept saying, \"But they're just so WHITE! They're soooo clean!\" They have kept my eager, little learners engaged and fully participating in lessons. \r\n\r\nThe magnetic cubes have been a way bigger hit than I could have predicted. The first week they arrived we were able to use them for some math patterning lessons and stations. A bonus I hadn't even thought of when I first asked for them! During our choice time/free play time, the kids have flocked to these. They have created buildings, towers, robots, cities, and are even using some of the ideas in the booklet that came with them. With the booklet they are sequencing, following directions, and increasing their spatial reasoning...such great life skills! \r\n\r\nThe clipboards have allowed us to take our learning outside multiple times, the building rocks have been so fun and a great addition to our STEM morning tubs, and the colorful Jenga blocks have been used for math counting and patterning, literacy phoneme segmentation, and just plain fun. Thank you for adding purposeful learning and fun to our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1755697970582,"projectUrl":"project/back-to-the-basics/9590055/","projectTitle":"Back to the Basics","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. C.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3624680_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1493501592075","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3624680"},{"teacherId":9417137,"projectId":9357380,"letterContent":"Thank you for taking the time to find my project and finding it in your hearts to donate to get these materials for my students. \r\nMy third graders have never seen fractions before, and it is a very confusing and intimidating topic for them. The look in their eyes when they realize there are numbers in between whole numbers is unlike any you see in a student! \r\nUsing these magnetic fraction pieces, students were able to get both a visual and kinesthetic approach to learning this new topic. Once they saw and moved the tile pieces, fractions did not seem as scary anymore! Thank you so much for helping to bring this joy and ease to learning fractions!","fullyFundedDate":1752671550346,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-fraction-experience/9357380/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Fraction Experience","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Boone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9417137_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723663834169","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9417137"},{"teacherId":3624680,"projectId":9153936,"letterContent":"It was SO nice to start the new school year with the Yoto! We start literacy stations with kindergarten students our 3rd day of school and independence at stations can be hard. The listening station in the past has been one they have struggled with. The concept, sitting and listening to a book, is easy! However, managing all the buttons (check out the picture of the old CD/cassette player and all the buttons they could be distracted with), working the challenging headphone connection, and finding the right book and CD (the CDs were only labeled with words and not pictures) proved to be challenging. The Yoto has been a game changer. The level of independence from the get go has been so nice! There are only 2 buttons on the Yoto and it is so user friendly. I made stickers to go on the Yoto cards so they can easily tell which book goes with which card. An added bonus that I didn't foresee is, with the CD player sometimes a child would push the 'stop' button and then they had to start the story from the beginning. If a Yoto card gets removed while playing, all you have to do is re-insert and it starts right up from where you left off...genius! It really has made this station so much more impactful to my students' learning, thank you! When the book is done, students are supposed to complete an activity to go along with the book. I used to preview the activity on Monday for the students. Sometimes the groups that didn't go to that station until Wednesday would forget what they were supposed to do. With the yoto, I can easily add a 2nd track. So, after the book is done, it immediately plays my voice telling the kids what to do with the activity. This makes sure that ALL students know what to do!\r\n\r\nAnd another bonus...we even were able to take it outside the other day to play some music, so fun!","fullyFundedDate":1742951185847,"projectUrl":"project/do-you-hear-what-i-hear/9153936/","projectTitle":"Do You Hear What I Hear?","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. C.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3624680_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1493501592075","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3624680"},{"teacherId":3624680,"projectId":8954650,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generosity to my students. We are *loving* all of our new items! We have already put so many of them to good use. These items have allowed us to lay a solid foundation of mathematical concepts as well as dig deeper for students who are ready for more of a challenge. \r\nThe peg board puzzle and number books have been great for my students who are still developing number sense. They have been able to explore what '3' actually means as they count out 3 pegs, find the number 3, and trace the number 3. These peg board puzzles have been great for comparing quantities and helping to determine which number is bigger or smaller. The Numberblocks pan balance has been a favorite item and I've been able to use it for students who are working on basic counting as well as students who are working on addition. It has been so fun! \r\nThe puzzle car track and the Buildzi blocks have been great for spatial reasoning and we've also used them for both literacy and math games. These tools have helped to me to expand my creativity as I create games for my kids and have helped my students have hands on, creative ways to engage with numbers and other math concepts. Thank you for helping to ensure my classroom is full of rich learning, hands on fun, and eager learners.","fullyFundedDate":1733196356857,"projectUrl":"project/1-2-skip-a-few-99-100/8954650/","projectTitle":"1, 2, Skip a Few, 99, 100","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. C.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3624680_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1493501592075","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3624680"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_19314","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":555,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":33,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":20,"percentWhite":61,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.0,"schoolId":19314,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brown Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brown Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/indiana/brownsburg-community-school-district/brown-elementary-school/19314"}
