Also, we have began the year with all the students learning how to use the tuners to be able to work on our intonation. The percussionists have also been able to improve their sound with new and proper mallets for their instruments.\r\n The majority of students in our district have financial difficulties which this donation allows everyone to be able to not miss out because of financial challenges. Thank you again for your wonderful generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1746553975706,"projectUrl":"project/giving-up-musicians-a-leg-up/9275675/","projectTitle":"Giving UP Musicians a Leg \"UP\"","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Fleisher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp978919_orig.jpg?crop=2048,2048,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715132395519","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/978919"},{"teacherId":9510877,"projectId":9244322,"letterContent":"I can not thank you enough for all the support you gave to my students and I with these new supplies. My kindergarteners absolutely LOVE the mystery ABC box as we reviewed letters and sounds at the end of the year. Each student got to pull an item from the box and decide the letter sound it starts with. Their peers helped give them a thumbs up or down if they were correct. \r\n\r\nThe decision making spinner wheel was such a BIG hit! We used it during our Pirate treasure hunt day. Each student had their name placed on the wheel and we would spin it to help determine whose turn it was as we hunted for clues around the building. The 2 students that got chosen during each round got to search the area and find the clue. This was such an exciting thing as students waited until the wheel stopped spinning to see who got picked!\r\n\r\nFinally, the new spinning/adjustable stool works wonders as I'm trying to move around the room to reach each child. It is small enough to fit around the tables and move in between students. I even let the kids take turns sitting on it when they are the helper of the day. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for donating to our classroom. We look forward to utilizing these materials this upcoming year as well :)","fullyFundedDate":1746785619504,"projectUrl":"project/organization-is-key-to-success/9244322/","projectTitle":"Organization Is Key To Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Winters","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9510877_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1712944926800","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9510877"},{"teacherId":9887558,"projectId":9031268,"letterContent":"I and the 5/6 students were extremely pleased to receive funding for our new bowling equipment. Without your selfless donation, we would not have been able to give these students a chance to practice their skills and play a timless sport that has been enjoyed for generations. The books provided the essential resources needed for our curriculum, allowing us to dive deeper into reading and comprehension. With a wider variety of materials, my students became more engaged, excited to explore new stories and characters. The books sparked their curiosity, making learning feel more personal and meaningful. Watching them connect with the stories, share their thoughts, and become more independent in their reading was truly heartwarming.\r\n\r\nThe storage organizer with drawers was a game-changer, bringing much-needed organization to our classroom. It was amazing to see how much easier it became to store materials and keep everything in its place. The efficiency it created helped us move through lessons more smoothly, giving us more time to focus on learning. But beyond just the physical organization, it instilled a sense of responsibility in my students to keep our space tidy, which made them feel more connected to the classroom environment.\r\n\r\nMost of all, the generosity of the donors created a sense of support and community. It reminded my students and me that there are people out there who care deeply about our education and success. This thoughtful gesture boosted our morale and made us all feel more motivated and appreciated. It truly made a difference, not just in the organization of our classroom, but in the hearts of everyone here.","fullyFundedDate":1738960181231,"projectUrl":"project/first-year-teacher-needs/9096893/","projectTitle":"First Year Teacher Needs!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wagley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9551975_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738628608125","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9551975"},{"teacherId":9773625,"projectId":8813569,"letterContent":"My students and I use magnetic word mats and letters during small-group instruction to reinforce phonics and spelling skills. These hands-on resources have been invaluable for my struggling readers and spellers, providing a multi-sensory approach to building words and recognizing spelling patterns.\r\n\r\nOne standout moment was when one of my students, who typically struggles with blending sounds, could confidently spell and read a CVC word using the magnetic letters. The look of pride on their face was priceless! The tactile nature of the materials has made learning more engaging and accessible, giving all my students—especially those who need extra support—a way to practice and succeed.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they first saw the magnetic word mats and letters! Their faces lit up, and they couldn't wait to start using them. Many immediately began exploring the letters, trying to spell their names and familiar words. Some of my struggling readers, who sometimes feel frustrated during phonics lessons, were eager to participate because the materials made learning feel more like a fun, hands-on activity rather than a challenge. Seeing their enthusiasm and engagement right from the start was so rewarding!\r\n\r\nIn addition to supporting phonics and spelling skills, using the magnetic word mats and letters has also helped my students build fine motor skills. Manipulating the small magnetic letters strengthens their hand muscles, improving their dexterity and coordination—essential skills for writing. After each activity, I also have my students put their magnets back in the correct alphabetical order. This simple routine reinforces letter recognition and sequencing while fostering responsibility and organization. It has been amazing to see how this extra step is helping them become more confident with the alphabet while also creating a structured and engaging learning environment.","fullyFundedDate":1734384125638,"projectUrl":"project/building-phonics-to-build-reading/8813569/","projectTitle":"Building Phonics to Build Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bridgewater","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9773625"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_30166","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":650,"numTeachers":53,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":55,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":30166,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Unity Point Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Unity Point Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/unity-point-community-consolidated-school-district-140/unity-point-elementary-school/30166"}
