The addition of an air purifier, humidifier, and green plants are helping to give us a better classroom environment. With our building being built in 1905, it has an older set up for heating which is a boiler with large radiators for heat. While it is still efficient, it produces a very dry heat which can aggravate respiratory systems especially when the cold and flu season hits. The humidifier helps keep the air moist while the air purifier is hopefully taking out impurities that come with the coughs and sneezes that students are producing. The green plants are added not only for their air purifying qualities, but also for the aesthetic effect they bring to the room and the added responsibility to keep them watered and in a properly lit spot (which, as you can see, the one plant was neglected a bit).\r\nWe appreciate the items donated as they are helping us keep our rooms fresher and more pleasant to be in. Hopefully we are producing cleaner air to breathe which will help in reducing absences. \r\nThanks again for helping us provide the best environment for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1765649723338,"projectUrl":"project/healthy-air-for-healtier-kids/9952039/","projectTitle":"Healthy Air for Healtier Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Opp","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5286540_orig.png?crop=868,868,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673314227310","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5286540"},{"teacherId":5286540,"projectId":9239116,"letterContent":"My students and I are so grateful for the donations that got us new class sets of books that have become a reading staple in our middle school curriculum. \r\nThe additional new books for the novel Pinballs by Betsy Byars used in 5th grade will replace the well-worn books that have pages falling out and covers falling off. My students enjoy this book from year to year as it provides a story of children who have less than ideal home situations and are placed into a foster home together. It teaches them to have empathy for others who often have stories that no one at school know about. \r\nLikewise, the novel Four Perfect Pebbles is written by a survivor of the Holocaust. I have personally heard her speak twice. Students are drawn into the story by the true to life accounts of the terrible conditions the author survived as well as her triumphant later life. Year after year, Tamaroa Grade School students talk fondly of the novels they have read together in my classes. I'm happy to have new books to continue the tradition.","fullyFundedDate":1744206645423,"projectUrl":"project/class-sets-for-my-classy-students/9239116/","projectTitle":"Class Sets for My Classy Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Opp","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5286540_orig.png?crop=868,868,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673314227310","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5286540"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_29969","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":92,"numTeachers":9,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":71.9,"schoolId":29969,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tamaroa Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tamaroa Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/tamaroa-elementary-school-district-5/tamaroa-elementary-school/29969"}
