The students knew we were dissecting owl pellets a few weeks ago, but we first had to learn about them in our owl life science unit. They kept asking when are we doing the owl \"eggs\". Once we had our lesson about how owl pellets are made a few students thought it sounded gross, but that reaction quickly turned into curiosity and excitement as they actually got to begin dissecting!\r\n\r\nThe most exciting moments came when students discovered tiny skulls inside the owl pellets. Suddenly, everyone was leaning in and eagerly sharing what type of animal believe they found. Students are now using these discoveries to create diagrams and written explanations about food chains and animal habitats, building both their science knowledge and confidence.
