My kindergarten students were beyond excited when they first saw the new books, there were gasps, huge smiles, and so many eager hands reaching to explore the shelves! For many of them, having access to engaging, high-interest books right in our classroom has made reading feel exciting and special. We now use these books daily during independent reading time, partner reading, and small group lessons, and they've helped build both confidence and curiosity in our youngest learners.\r\n\r\nOne especially meaningful moment came during reading centers when a student who is typically hesitant about reading proudly chose a book on their own and asked to share it with a friend. Seeing students take ownership of their reading choices and use the library independently has been powerful. The new materials have allowed us to create a more inviting and accessible reading space where students can see themselves reflected in stories and discover new topics that spark their interests.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these books are supporting our work in building foundational literacy skills like retelling, making connections, and understanding story elements. Students are beginning to recommend books to each other and revisit favorites, helping to build stamina and a true love for reading.
