This year we have tried to take a different approach to learning phonics and it is helping so much. Using games, puzzles, manipulatives, and a multi-sensory approach to phonics has helped my students stay more engaged as well as pick up new skills faster.\r\n\r\nPlay-based learning for kindergarten through second graders is being used more and more in our school, but sometimes in my classroom, we have to brainstorm a bit on how to make it work best for my neurodivergent students. The train table has been very versatile. Students configurate them in many ways!\r\nThe fan favorite has to be our new sensory bin. This bin is larger and can hold a variety of materials. From noodles to sand to beads, this table has had many fillers in it! \r\nMy students show very little emotion with things.
