This is a vulnerable time in a child's life where social emotional learning is imperative, and these books are the right books to help these children learn about emotions in a safe space. We read social emotional books every day in the classroom, and these books are a great way for children to get an understanding on how to treat each other, our supplies, and ourselves. \r\n\r\nAll of the students have enjoyed listening to the stories and making faces with the emotions and learning about good decisions and what it is like to be a good friend. My goal for them is to look at a picture in a book and decide how that person or child is feeling based off of the story books you have graciously donated. We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the generosity and passing that along!","fullyFundedDate":1750256233925,"projectUrl":"project/big-feelings-little-learners-sel-book/9342843/","projectTitle":"Big Feelings, Little Learners: SEL Book Wishlist","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ariana","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10028013_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746918897039","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10028013"},{"teacherId":10011781,"projectId":9311381,"letterContent":"How are you and your students using the new resources? Share a specific classroom project or moment.\r\n\r\nWe made a prize bin, and we use it to reward our students for using their words when they have big emotions or are being good friends to others. Like how some of our friends might get very upset when another friend doesn't take their turn and may hit, but decide to let them know it's my turn, not yours.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\n\r\nThe students love all of the material I was able to receive, especially the little toys and slime. They use these things every day for prizes and everything else. \r\n \r\nYour donors got a little peek into your classroom by contributing to your project, and we know that they'd love to learn more. What are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\n\r\nThe next project where we're going to be doing is using the I feel board for some of our friends who can't use their words all the time. This will help with our communication skills somewhat.","fullyFundedDate":1746698792660,"projectUrl":"project/im-teaching-my-students-about-emotions/9311381/","projectTitle":"I'm Teaching my Students About Emotions","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shapelle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10011781"},{"teacherId":6715915,"projectId":9215692,"letterContent":"Spring time, bring students excitement to life while searching for bugs in the schoolyard. This project promotes understanding of bugs and how they live, and the students are able to classify bugs in the picture. You'll see a student looking at a caterpillar. We use the view finders in the science area to identify bugs and where we would find them. Meaning of the students like looking at the view masters independently at the window and we talk about what they see. We watched the stages of the butterfly turn from caterpillar to cry into butterflies and then we release the butterflies. We read books about different types of bugs and how they are important in our environment on Earth Day. We look for bugs and used our bug boxes to collect what we could on the playground, we also dug for grub worms in the playground to feed our frog in our fish tank, and we did for worms in the playground to feed our goldfish worms on the playground Our children are interested in making three-dimensional shapes using popsicle sticks, and we are starting to tally the popsicle sticks on graphing charts, using 10 frames . Thank you for making an impact on our community and our students learning experiences. We enjoy all the science activities that help our students learn about not being afraid of bugs and how they are important to our environment.","fullyFundedDate":1744033101993,"projectUrl":"project/stem-101/9215692/","projectTitle":"STEM 101","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. D. We used the magazines to make patterns from the worksheets focusing on winter themed objects. We also used legos to pattern with colors and build structures to go with our Gingerbread house theme. These magazines help us learn about things in our environment and help with our math skills. We count everything and the worksheets help send activities home to work on with our parents. When we complete a unit using My Big world materials we can send home extension activities to do with parents. The magazines provide vocabulary through the use of pictures the students can read both in class and take home to read with their families. My big World magazines always tie in with any theme we are working on in our curriculum to develop our learning. Thank you for supporting our children and families. My students love the large posters included in the theme we work on each month . They are developmentally appropriate for our preschoolers and help them spark a conversation on what we are learning in class.","fullyFundedDate":1727977266281,"projectUrl":"project/my-big-world-magazines/8836934/","projectTitle":"My Big World Magazines","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. D.
