The camera has already made a huge impact on making smooth transitions and keeping students engaged. \r\n\r\nI appreciate the support for my classroom. It is unbelievable the difference that something as simple as a charging cart can make in a classroom. \r\n\r\nMy students have taken on the responsibility of getting out their chromebooks and plugging them back into the cart. During this time, I am able to continue working with students in a small group setting. The organization that the cart provides has allowed me to let go of the constant need to make sure chrome books are plugged in and cords aren't a tangled mess. \r\n\r\nMy students now have a sense of ownship of their Chromebook and the responsilbity to make sure it's charged each day. I saved the books in their shopping boxes until they had all arrived. After lunch today, when I usually read a chapter to them while they enjoy their \"after lunch sweet treat, 2 Skilltes\" I had them predict what could be inside the boxes addressed to our classroom. We had lots of ideas like snacks, crayons and a math toy. But noone guessed BOOKS! Not just books, but books for their hands! \r\n I pulled them out one at a time and their excitement was priceless! Within minutes they were rating what they wanted me to read to them first and which ones they hoped would land in their own book boxes for independent reading time. My readers range in independent reading level from early picture books to beginning chapter books. With this large range, it's wonderful to have variety at their finger tips! One of my more advanced readers loves graphic novels and I didn't have anything new and interesting for him, now I've got a whole series and he already one to his book box today! \r\n We dove right into our new Mercy Watson book set and I read the first four chapters in Mercy Watson to the Rescue to them after we did the unboxing of all of the books. They can't wait to get through them all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and more importantly their first grade hearts! Before we added the cart to our classroom, we struggled to find enough outlets around the room in order to keep all of the Chromebooks charged and ready to go. Students can now take ownership of maintaining their Chromebooks in a safe place that allows them to be prepared for use whenever needed. \r\n\r\nThe great thing about technology is that students can work on various skills at the same time in order to best meet their individual needs. While I work with individuals or small groups of students, the rest of the class can work on an educational program like Lexia, that meets students at their current level and helps them to make progress toward new skills. Students like Johan have been able to challenge themselves with more advanced skills than the rest of the class is ready for with the expand use of Chromebooks. While it seems simple, the Chromebook cart plays a huge role in making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1731524089437,"projectUrl":"project/chrome-book-caddy-for-kindergarten/8697813/","projectTitle":"Chrome Book Caddy for Kindergarten","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9703703"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_28516","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":567,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":26,"percentWhite":47,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 3","studentTeacherRatio":"14.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":28516,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dr Nick Osborne Primary Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dr Nick Osborne Primary Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/mount-vernon-city-school-district-80/mt-vernon-primary-center/28516"}
