When the cabinet first showed up, the kids were excited to see what was in it! We opened it for the first time, and they saw all of their options for play during our recess. \r\n \r\nBecause of the cabinet and storage crates, students are getting more time to play at our recess because all of the equipment is right there at their disposal. It has taught the students to take turns because we rotate through the classes that clean up all of the equipment and lock up the cabinet at the end of recess. It has taught them responsibility as well. There were times when the equipment wasn't put away, and they had to go and find it. This helped them to remember to clean up after themselves at the end of recess.\r\n \r\nThank you so much for your support in funding this project. We have been using these books almost every day during my reading small groups. It allows the students to have a physical book in their hand, full colorful illustrations that focuses on the specific phonics skill that I introduced. They have really enjoyed the stories and I've seen their confidence grow through having access to stories that are decodable, meaning that it contain words that follow recognizable phonics patterns that they have been explicitly taught. These books will continue to be used by my students for many, many years to come!\r\n\r\nThe spiral binding machine and cardstock have allowed me to create these adorable memory books for each student to take home as a keepsake of 1st grade. The spiral binding allows the books to be bound together with durability, rather than just a plain staple (which can be difficult to use with large quantities of paper) or comb binding (which causes papers to fall out easily).
