This project provided dry erase boards, Bunsen burners, and tie-dye materials that turned our classroom into a place where students can explore, experiment, make mistakes, and discover how chemistry connects to the world around them.\r\n\r\nThe dry erase boards gave and will continue to give every student a chance to actively participate. Instead of simply watching me work through a problem, students can solve chemical equations, predict outcomes, draw particle models, and show their thinking in real time. Every student gets a voice and I can quickly see who understands a concept and who needs additional support.\r\n\r\nThe Bunsen burners and laboratory materials will allow students to safely experience chemistry through hands-on investigations. Students will use them while exploring concepts such as chemical reactions, energy changes, and properties of matter. These experiences have and will help transform abstract ideas from a textbook into something students can actually see and experience.\r\n\r\nThe tie-dye materials will bring chemistry to life in a colorful and memorable way this will be used in the spring. Students will investigate the chemistry of dyes, fibers, bonding, and chemical reactions while creating something of their own. A creative project like this helps students see that chemistry isn't just something that happens in a laboratory it is all around them.\r\n\r\nYour support helped create a classroom where students do chemistry instead of just reading about it. These materials will continue to give my students more opportunities to collaborate, think critically, communicate their ideas, and build confidence as young scientists.","fullyFundedDate":1779650364024,"projectUrl":"project/tie-dyechemistry-materials/10300385/","projectTitle":"Tie Dye/Chemistry Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wilson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4451695"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_27962","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2676,"numTeachers":153,"percentFrplEligible":11,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":69,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.8,"schoolId":27962,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lincoln - Way East High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lincoln - Way East High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/lincoln-way-cmty-hs-dist-210/lincoln-way-east-high-school/27962"}
