I am able to provide tools within the classroom for the kids to utilize in their classrooms to increase their independence, utilize tools to help my kiddos regulate themselves when needed, and build fun, sensory-seeking activities using these items to significantly help my students meet their goals. \r\nWhen my students first saw all of the new items, their faces were filled with joy and excitement. They were absolutely ecstatic to see what was in the boxes and to utilize all of the new, fun sensory tools. It was such a humbling moment to enlighten the kids when the tools were applied into their OT sessions(s). \r\nMy next step after receiving the generous donation of sensory-based tools is to build sensory integration activities that will help students regulate themselves when they need it during OT sessions, as well as in their classrooms. A goal of mine this year is to provide my kiddos with sensory-based activities and/or strategies that will improve their independence to regulate themselves and manage/control their emotions in their classrooms, as well as in their own home.
