The addition of kinetic sand, color changing putty, colorful balls for our classroom ball pit, spinning chairs, and weighted therapy balls has made a meaningful difference in the daily experiences of our youngest learners. For our students ages 3–5 with significant autism-related support needs and emerging English language skills, these materials provide fun, hands-on opportunities to explore, learn, and interact with others in ways that meet their individual developmental needs. The kinetic sand has been a wonderful addition to our sensory activities, encouraging curiosity, creativity, fine motor development, and exploration. It has been so rewarding to watch students become more confident and willing to try new experiences while naturally developing social skills such as observing classmates, imitating actions, sharing materials, and taking turns. These may seem like small moments, but for our students, they represent tremendous growth!\r\n\r\nThe addition of balls for our classroom ball pit, spinning chairs, and weighted therapy balls has provided even more opportunities for sensory exploration, movement, and social engagement. Our ball pit has quickly become a favorite classroom activity, creating opportunities for students to engage in shared play, practice communication, and interact with their peers. The spinning chairs offer students opportunities to experience movement and develop body awareness, while the weighted therapy balls provide calming sensory input and opportunities to build coordination, strength, and motor skills. These materials have been especially valuable in helping students meet their sensory needs so they can feel more comfortable, regulated, and ready to participate in classroom learning. One of the most exciting things we have observed is students who previously showed limited interest in peer interactions or adult-guided activities becoming more willing to approach others, imitate movements, initiate playful interactions, and participate in simple social games. Watching our students laugh, explore, and connect with one another has been such a wonderful reminder of how powerful learning through play can be!\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful to you all for making these wonderful experiences possible! Your kindness and generosity have provided so much more than classroom materials. You have helped create meaningful opportunities for our students to build friendships, develop confidence, strengthen communication skills, regulate their bodies, and experience the joy of learning.
