Having these resources in advance allows me to intentionally plan instruction, model proper use, and build foundational skills that will directly support student success when the projects officially begin.\r\n\r\nEarly access to these tools gives students time to learn safety procedures, tool vocabulary, and design expectations in a low-pressure environment. Many of my students are English language learners and come from low-income backgrounds, so familiarity and repetition are critical for confidence. By introducing concepts now—such as safe cutting techniques, proper glue gun handling, and responsible tool sharing—students are able to internalize expectations well before they are asked to apply them in complex engineering challenges. Having headphones for every student allows all students access grade level curriculum, and in many circumstances in their language. \r\nI would love to be able to read every text to students that are not able to read grade level texts, but it is impossible for me to do that for every individual student.
